Scarf Holder

I instantly fell in love with the idea of a Elizabeth Box’s fabric scarf holder but wasn’t too thrilled about stapling it to the wall. So I filed it away in my craft queue for a rainy day…

Well my rainy day came when I saw a 12″x36″ poster frame. Looking at it now, it looks similar to Elizabeth’s but that wasn’t the intention but I found some fabric…

…and some ribbon.

I cut the fabric mostly to size, with some room to fold over the ends, and ironed the fabric to size. The 2″ ribbon was cut 14 inches and ironed in half. I visually placed the 8 strips of ribbon and the measurements ended up being 3/4″ from the top for the top row, 4″ from the top for the bottom row, and 2.5″ in between the ribbons with 1.25″ from the ends. Marked the corners with a pencil and then sewed all the pieces into place.

Once done, I flipped it over, placed the frame backing in place and then hand sewed the fabric in place. I would have opted for an industrial stapler but I didn’t have one on hand. If I had one, I may have also stapled the fabric to the board right under each ribbon.

Once done, I slipped the frame on without the mat and glass, hung it on the wall, and VOILA!

Thanks for the inspiration Elizabeth!
